Finding Hope

November 1991

When I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on November 11, 1991 my world stopped. I was a ten-year-old girl suddenly facing the possibility that I would never be able to grow up, get married and see all of my dreams come true. I was terrified. Here I was, fighting for my life before I had a chance to really live. In my fear I lost hope.

However, my pediatrician referred me to a place where hope not only lives, but a place where I would receive cutting edge research and treatment - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

20 years later, I am not only cancer free, I am also the mother of two healthy and beautiful children. Thank you St. Jude, for making a difference not only in my life, but in the lives of all children stricken with a catastrophic disease.
